Four Ways To Walk In Biblical Unity
Doug and Leslie give you four Biblical principles to apply to your marriage, increasing unity as you go. They also discuss questions to ask yourself if you cannot apply these four Biblical principles.
The Four Principles
- be humble
- be gentle
- be patient
- be tolerant in love
Scripture Mentioned:
Ephesians 4:1 & 2 Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to live worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
Romans 12:10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.
Self-check questions mentioned:
Be humble:
Are you willing to submit your desires to God’s purposes?
Are you willing to serve your spouse? Ask God to show you your reaction when you’re treated like a servant.
Be gentle:
What is your first response when your spouse wrongs you?
Be patient:
Am I really willing to wait for the moving of God’s spirit in the life of my spouse?
Be tolerant in love:
Am I truly ok with things my spouse does differently or do I insist on things being done my way?
